Peter Harden Memorial Utility Dog of the Year
(Annual Obedience Trophy)
This trophy was donated by Peter Harden and is present to the winning obedience trial handler.
Peter Harden was a wonderful man and a very keen obedience person who loved the sport.
He was a founding member of Jimboomba Obedience Club, a senior judge and he was the director at the Blood Bank.
Peter had a Chocolate Labrador named Bahloo which he trained to UD. His daughter, Fiona who accompanied him to training decided to get her own dog anther Chocolate Labrador who they named Worm. Worm ended up with Peter too.
In those days obedience was more about camaraderie than competition. Many wonderfully social times were shared with many an evening at Peter’s house eating take-away and laughing at various training escapades.
Peter and his family moved to Sydney which was a huge loss to us.
He was invited to judge at the RNA trial and it was on his way to judge that peter was tragically killed in in a car crash as he and his wife Maisie drove to Brisbane. Peter was a great friend to many of the veteran obedience people and it was in his memory that his wife Maisie and daughter Fiona donated the UD Dog of the Year Trophy.
